this really highlighted the failing of the guard to deal with this problem real life analogy much? like just the combination of their poverty and their gender and their race no one actually gives a fuck about them being hurt like this. ‘no one cares about elven children’, lia’s father says. the strong implication in dragon age is that this isn’t unusual, this is what happens regularly to elven women. in DA2 there’s lia, and the story about the sister of those elves that converted to the qun. Like the commentary mentions, it becomes all about saving helpless damsels and furthering your reputation as a badass with none of the trauma.Īhh i could kiss you for your response! it’s awful knowing other people were affected like this by that origin, but also good to know you’re not alone?īut yes literally all i want for DA3 is elven revolution, and a large part of that is the rape plotlines in DA:O- the children of zathrian, and shianni and the rest of the wedding party. I have to say, I cannot CANNOTunderstand playing this Origin with a male PC. “A local lord claiming his privilege with the bride shatters your wedding day,” is certainly enough to raise flags, but that is NOT a proper trigger warning whatsoever.

I’ve finally come back to the City Elf (simply because I love the elves in this game so gd much and I wish I could have THAT rebellion instead of the mages sometimes), and while coming back KNOWING WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO didn’t make it less problematic, but it was definitely a little easier when I was able to steel myself. Which, while not quite as visceral, still has a lot of questionable moments (the MC’s sister basically selling herself into forced prostitution) and needless to say, I’ve never finished that game either. So of course I would pick up the Dwarf Commoner. This is exactly the same thing I went though playing it the first time (though admittedly only six months ago, not a few years) after what had actually happened sank in (oh, hitting the end of Lothering or so), I actually had to turn the game off, take a breather (or ten), and try hitting up another Origin, because I simply couldn’t take it anymore. I could kiss you for this commentary, it’s perfect.
